Arnaud Brignol

Department of Electrical Engineering, ÉTS

I obtained an engineering degree from ESIEE, France (2011) and a master's degree from Université de Montréal (2015) in computer science. I am currently a PhD student in medical image analysis under the supervision of Prof. C. Laporte in the Department of Electrical Engineering at École de Technologie Supérieure. My research focuses on the 3D analysis of spinal deformities due to adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, where ultrasound imaging is being considered as a safe alternative to X-ray imaging for tracking the evolution of the disease. I find my passion in applying concepts from non linear analysis methods and chaos theory to tackle the challenges encountered in the field of medical imaging and signal processing.

Babak Samari

School of Computer Science, McGill University

I plan to carry out research in the area of visual form analysis in medical imaging via the application of advanced computer vision techniques. I am particularly interested in 2D and 3D shape representation, and in probabilistic models of connectivity in the brain inferred from diffusion MRI.

Elham Karimi

Department of Electrical Engineering, ÉTS

I am a Master's student in Software Engineering working under the supervision of Professor Catherine Laporte. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Kurdistan in 2016. My research interests are mainly focused on medical image processing and computer vision.

Fadi Ayad

Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University

I am a PhD student at McGill university, at Amir Shmuel’s Lab. I graduated from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Cairo, Egypt with a BSc. and an MSc. both in the field of electronics and communications engineering. My research focuses on both the functional MRI and the neurophysiological signals of the brain.

François Rheault

Computer Science, Université de Sherbrooke

I am a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Maxime Descoteaux at the University of Sherbrooke Connectivity Imaging Lab (SCIL) and Professor Louis Collins from McGill University. My B.Sc. was in image/signal processing, a branch of Computer Science, at the University of Sherbrooke. My project is on automatic segmentation of white matter bundles, applications  range from neurosurgical planning to large cohort for clinical trial.

Jasmeen Sidhu

Médecine Nucléaire et Radiobiologie, Faculté de Médecine, Université de Sherbrooke

I am a PhD student at the Sherbrooke Connectivity Imaging Lab (SCIL) at the Université de Sherbrooke where I am supervised by Dr. Maxime Descoteaux. From the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) I obtained a Double Major B.Sc. in Biochem. & Mol. Bio. and Psychology with a Double Minor in Biological Anthropology and English. I completed my M.Sc. of Neuroscience with a specialization in Diffusion Imaging at King’s College London (KCL) in London, England. At KCL I also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Space Physiology and Health, working on the European Space Agency’s BRAIN-DTI project for my dissertation. My research is focused on classical connectional neuroanatomy in diffusion MRI.

Morteza Rezanejad

School of Computer Science, McGill University

I am a Ph.D. student in Computer Science working under the supervision of Professor Siddiqi in the Shape Analysis Group at McGill University. I obtained my Master's degree in Computer Science from McGill University in 2013. My research interests are mainly focused on Shape Analysis using medial representations. The mentioned research also has applications in medical image analysis. In particular,  I am currently working on a project with the goal of predicting Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in its earlier stages.

Russell Butler

Department of Radiation Science and Biomedical Imaging, University of Sherbrooke

I am a PhD student at the University of Sherbrooke, in the field of biomedical imaging. My research aims to investigate the link between the brain's hemodynamic response and electrical activity of cortex in the context of brief visual stimulation. I did a Bachelor's in Computer Science at Bishop's University, and recently completed my MSc at the University of Sherbrooke.

Sethu K. Boopathy Jegathambal

Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University

I am a Master's student in Biomedical Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Amir Shmuel. I obtained my B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from SRM University, India. Before starting my Master's, I worked as project associate at Rehabilitation & Bio-engineering lab at Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, Chennai, India. My research is about validation of MRI protocol for imaging myelin content. I am interested in image analysis and machine learning.

Shreyank Gupta

Department of Electrical Engineering, ÉTS

I obtained my undergraduate degree from India (2010) and a master’s degree from Hochschule Darmstadt, Germany (2015).  I have a two years of professional experience in the area of medical signal and image processing.  Currently, I am a PhD student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at École de technologie supérieure under the co-supervision of Prof. Catherine Laporte. I am doing my research on improving the image quality for transcranial Doppler ultrasound systems. It is important because some diseases like vasospasm etc. are co-related to the blood flow which requires the accurate measurement of the diameter of vessel from the images. With the current image quality, it is not possible to accurately determine the diameter due to its poor quality and therefore the blood flow.
