This workshop will introduce attendees to the promising world of artificial neural networks and deep learning and will include both theory and practice. Although the principles are broadly applicable, the practical portion will use Google’s TensorFlow.
We will cover background theory for machine learning, graph computation, artificial neural networks (ANNs) and deep learning including fully connected perceptron-type ANNs, convolutional, and fully convolutional networks.
Host
Dr. Brown has a BSc in computer science (2001) and a PhD in biomedical engineering (2008). His PhD thesis involved the development and application of the General Fourier family transform (GFT), including an efficient O(N log N) algorithm for calculating it. Currently, Dr. Brown is a post doctoral fellow at the Montreal Neurological Institute in Montreal, Canada. His current research interests include deep learning, magnetization transfer ratio MR imaging as it relates to multiple sclerosis, and compressed sensing applications in MR.
