Abstract
This presentation will review some of the work done in the Neuroimaging of Epilepsy Laboratory at the McConnelll Brain Imaging Center related to advanced image processing of structural MRI, focusing on temporal lobe epilpesy and focal cortical dysplasia.
Biography
Dr Andrea Bernasconi is Professor of Neurology in the Department of Neurology/Neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University. He is co-founder of the Neuroimaging of Epilepsy Laboratory at the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre. His translational research is devoted to the investigation of causes and consequences of drug-resistant epilepsy. His team designs computerized MRI analysis methods to automatically segment brain structures and model their fine-grained morphology. The goal of our translational research is to develop cutting-edge neuroimaging methods and combine them with statistical learning in search for biomarkers of epileptogenesis.
